Carpet Stretching & Re-Stretching in North Palm Beach

From the canal-front neighborhoods to the streets near the North Palm Beach Country Club, we get calls from North Palm Beach homeowners whose carpet has started to ripple, bubble or buckle. The good news is that loose carpet almost never needs replacing. A proper power stretch makes it lie flat and tight again.

Signs your North Palm Beach carpet needs carpet stretching

Most people notice the problem when the vacuum starts catching on a hump or a door begins dragging on the carpet. By then the carpet has worked loose from the tack strip on at least one wall, and each step makes the wave a little bigger.

In North Palm Beach's older homes, aging tack strip and worn padding often let carpet loosen, so we check both before stretching. Near the water in North Palm Beach, humid air makes carpet more likely to relax, so a proper power stretch matters even more. In North Palm Beach condos, carpet is usually stretched over a concrete slab, and units that sit closed for part of the year can see the carpet relax and bubble when humidity changes.

How we do it

A proper restretch starts by checking why the carpet loosened, whether that's failed tack strip, worn padding or an open seam. Then we power-stretch the carpet back into place, trim the excess and secure the edges. The goal is to get the most use possible out of the carpet you already have.

North Palm Beach homes and carpet

North Palm Beach is a village incorporated in 1956, laid out with canal-front streets that lead to the Intracoastal. It's home to the village-owned North Palm Beach Country Club, and John D. MacArthur Beach State Park sits on the island at its edge.

Many North Palm Beach homes are 1950s and '60s ranch houses on canals, with carpet in bedrooms and sometimes terrazzo underneath. Waterfront condos have carpet over concrete, and boat-and-beach living means wet feet at every door.

Local tip: If your North Palm Beach home has terrazzo under the carpet, let us know when you book. We'll plan the tack strip work to protect the floor underneath.

Common questions

Can't I just kick the ripple flat myself?

A knee kicker can push a ripple toward the wall, but in a full room it usually comes back. A power stretcher pulls evenly across the whole room, which is what keeps it flat.

Will my carpet look the same afterwards?

Restretching removes the ripples and humps so the carpet lies flat. It doesn't change color or wear, but a flat carpet makes the whole room look better.
