Carpet Stretching & Re-Stretching in Highland Beach

From the oceanfront condominiums along A1A to the Intracoastal-side condos, we get calls from Highland Beach homeowners whose carpet has started to ripple, bubble or buckle. The good news is that loose carpet almost never needs replacing. A proper power stretch makes it lie flat and tight again.

Signs your Highland Beach carpet needs carpet stretching

Ripples, bubbles and humps happen when carpet loosens from the tack strip around the room. Common causes include an install that wasn't stretched enough, heavy furniture being dragged across the floor, heavy traffic from walkers or wheelchairs, and carpet paired with the wrong padding. Once a ripple starts it keeps growing, because every step pushes the loose carpet around.

In Highland Beach condos, carpet is usually stretched over a concrete slab, and units that sit closed for part of the year can see the carpet relax and bubble when humidity changes. Near the water in Highland Beach, humid air makes carpet more likely to relax, so a proper power stretch matters even more. Seasonal owners in Highland Beach often come back to find ripples in a closed-up home. Steady AC while you're away helps prevent it.

How we do it

Our technicians use power stretchers and knee kickers together. The power stretcher pulls the carpet tight wall to wall, and the knee kicker sets it into closets and tight corners. Excess carpet is trimmed and the edge is reattached so it stays flat. Our promise is that once stretched, your carpet will be as tight as before, or even tighter.

Highland Beach homes and carpet

Highland Beach is a narrow town on the barrier island between Delray Beach and Boca Raton, incorporated in 1949. A1A runs its full length, lined with oceanfront condominium buildings on one side and Intracoastal-front condos and homes on the other.

Most Highland Beach homes are condo units with carpet in bedrooms over concrete, next to tile or marble. Many owners are seasonal, and units closed up for months are one of the most common places we find rippled carpet.

Local tip: Most Highland Beach buildings require a certificate of insurance and a reserved elevator. Tell us your building's requirements when you book and we'll send the paperwork ahead.

Common questions

Is stretching cheaper than replacing carpet?

In most cases, yes. The site's whole approach is "don't replace your carpet, get it repaired instead." If the carpet itself is still in decent shape, restretching is the more economical fix.

How long does a restretch take?

It depends on the size of the room and how much furniture needs to be moved. We'll give you an idea when you book.
