Signs your Tequesta carpet needs carpet transition and doorway repair

Doorways are where carpet takes the most abuse. Every trip in and out of the room passes over the same edge, and doors, vacuum cleaners and pets all work at it. Frayed, lifted or unravelling edges are the result.

If you're remodeling your Tequesta home over the off-season, schedule the carpet edges after the new floors go in. In Tequesta condos, carpet usually meets tile or marble at the bedroom doorway, and that edge wears quickly. Many older Tequesta homes have been updated with new tile or plank next to existing carpet, and those transitions need finishing.

How we do it

We trim the carpet edge back to solid material, re-secure it and finish it against the hard floor so there's no lip to trip on. If the wear goes into the room, we can patch the carpet right at the transition.

Tequesta homes and carpet

Tequesta is the northernmost municipality in Palm Beach County, a village incorporated in 1957 along the forks of the Loxahatchee River. It's a quiet community of single-family homes and condos along the Loxahatchee River and the Intracoastal.

Many Tequesta homes are 1960s through 1980s houses on or near the water, with carpet in bedrooms and family rooms. Riverfront humidity and wet feet from boating take a toll on carpet near the back doors.

Local tip: In a riverfront home, run the AC or a dehumidifier steadily in carpeted rooms. Lower humidity helps a fresh restretch stay tight longer.
